Maps are awesome, we love them – from phone apps to treasure maps. But maps are only as awesome as the people who put them together.

No matter how much technology changes, we will always need accurate information about people and places to tackle issues like climate change, poverty and disasters.

Our community has many thought-provoking, highly visual and easy to understand examples of how we are addressing the challenges faced by the next generation. These are a great way to take out work into schools to encourage kids who are passionate about making the world a better place to think about a career as a surveyor or mapping expert.

The Get Kids into Survey initiative provides curriculum-referenced resources, for teachers and their pupils to explore the real-world application of cutting edge geographical technology, investigate case studies that span all types of physical environments, and look at the future of geography in terms of ecological conservation and impact. Comics, posters and more can be found on their website.

I love that Get Kids Into Survey (GKiS) takes geography beyond the bounds of text books and into the world outside the classroom, and that’s why Three Trees and a Map PR is delighted to support Get Kids Into Survey, and why Rhian is pleased to be a GKiS Brand Ambassador.

Get Kids Into Survey is a brilliant and really engaging way to inspire to next generation of geospatial professionals – please do support this excellent initiative.
